Information about the project

  • Full title: Metacognition in European Teaching: Activating Minds Through the Implementation of New Development Strategies
  • Duration: 3 years (2015 - 2018)
  • Coordinating organisation: ICS Giorgio Perlasca, Rome, Italy
  • Participating organisations: Langelinieskolen (Denmark), 3o Gymnasio Edessa (Greece), Agrupamento de Escolas no 1 de Serpa (Portugal), INS Aubenc (Spain), Hillview School for Girls (England), Viltis Progymnasium (Lithuania)
  • The main project idea: integrated action involving teachers and pupils together. The development of new teaching strategies to boost “learning to learn” competence in pupils, cannot be effective unless new tools are also offered to teachers to help them assess the outcomes, modify the methods, adapt to the needs and challenges of today’s classrooms. An increased teacher awareness of their personal resources, professional tools, teaching approaches can be especially useful to tackle difficult situations. At the same time, learners need to become subjects of their learning, discovering their strong and weak points, and learn how to be successful learners.
