First Transnational Project Meeting

The first partner meeting took place in the coordinating institution ICS Giorgio Perlasca, in Rome on 10 - 14 November, 2015.
First, 12 guests from England, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Denmark and Lithuania were kindly invited to get acquainted with the school premises, Italian students acting as helpful hosts and wonderful guides. They provided a lot of interesting information about the organisation of the educational process in their school. All visiting teachers admired hundreds of fantastic students' paintings performed in different techniques and displayed everywhere at school.

Then, all the partners presented their national education systems, as regards teacher training and provisions to develop learning to learn skills in pupils. It was really amazing to discover our similarities and differences!

Every day we had lunch in the school canteen together with the students. And yes, we made sure that Italians definitely eat a lot of pasta:)

During the work sessions, many things were discussed and agreed on: task division, budget management, time schedule and deadlines, general organization of training mobilities, pupil involvement and activities of year one. We also had the first metacognition workshop with Claudia Sabatano, during which decided on the metacognition research areas: cognitive architecture, teaching and learning strategies, reflection and emotions in the educational process.

On Friday, 13th November, the project kick-off event was organised. The participants from different countries presented their schools to ICS Giorgio Perlasca community.

It was an extremely busy week for all of us as we not only worked, but were also constantly immersed in Italian cultural environment. All our free time was devoted to acquaintance with Roman history, architecture, Italian language, cuisine and way of life. Many thanks to the Italian team, especially Monica, for their hospitality, friendship and care!

Next meeting will take place in Denmark on 29 February - 5 March. Until then a lot of tasks to be done...
